How guardian angels help us, both in the Bible and now

Scott Hahn explains that guardian angels serve humans by God's design within the communion of saints. While the visible world is populated by people, the Church includes both humans and angels, with the latter appearing to outnumber the former.

Hahn notes that although angels are pure spirits with intelligence and free will, they are creatures rather than gods. Unlike humans, these angels successfully passed their initial testing and possess wills fixed on serving God.

Biblical accounts illustrate this guardianship, such as when the Prophet Elisha prayed for his servant's eyes to be opened to see horses and chariots of fire protecting them from a Syrian army. Hahn also references Jesus' teaching in the Gospel of Matthew that all of God's children have angels in heaven watching over them.
