HOW MISSION SUPPORT IS ORGANIZED IN THE UNITED STATES

The Roman Dicastery for Evangelization operates through four distinct societies to manage the Church's mission work, according to a report by OC Catholic. Under Pope Leo XIV, these societies coordinate efforts from the Vatican to national and diocesan mission offices.

The Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith, established in 1822, encourages Catholics to pray and provide material support for the mission Church. The Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle, founded in 1889, focuses on training native priests in mission territories. The Missionary Childhood Association, founded in 1843, encourages children to help children through prayer and small sacrifices. Unlike the other groups, the Missionary Union, founded in 1922, provides education and support to help priests and religious develop a mission mindset rather than collecting funds.

In the United States, The Pontifical Mission Society receives its instructions from Rome to organize these efforts.
