Hoy comienzan las primeras perforaciones e inyecciones para mejorar el terreno de la iglesia del Sagrario

Workers began the first drilling and injection operations to stabilize the ground at the Sagrario church on September 11, 2026. The Diocese of Málaga stated that this work is a new phase of an intervention process that started in 2016 after a large crack appeared in the building.

The project aims to improve the soil's geomechanical characteristics, increase its load-bearing capacity, and reduce potential settling that could damage the monument. Technicians will perform approximately 150 treatment operations involving small-diameter drillings both inside and outside the building. During these operations, workers will insert steel tubes with valves into holes that can reach depths of nearly 19 meters. Controlled cement grout will then be injected through these tubes to progressively consolidate the ground.

Archaeological remains located under the church and its immediate surroundings have been a primary factor influencing the work. Recent years included archaeological studies to better understand these remains before beginning the current structural improvements.
