Hramul bisericii Ordinului Piarist din Timișoara

The Piarist Order church in Timișoara celebrated its patronal feast on Monday, September 14. The feast honors the Înălțarea Sfintei Cruci, the dedication under which the church was consecrated.

Built in the early 20th century based on plans by architect László Székely, the church was blessed on January 22, 1912, by Bishop Iulius Glattfelder of the Diocese of Cenad. According to author Péter Sas, the consecration took place during a festive ceremony on the day of the Sfintei Familii.

The main altar is a semicircular structure with a tripartite design decorated with a 220 cm artistic representation of the Căii Crucii. The central element of the wood carving is the Mântuitorul răstignit, flanked by the Sfânta Fecioară and the figure of Sfântul Ioan. Collaborators from Mayer’sche Hofkunstanstalt in Munich arrived on October 28, 1911, under Paul Müller to assemble the group of statues.
