Cardinal José Cobo, the Archbishop of Madrid, has invited the faithful to observe the Week of the Word from September 20 to 26, 2026. The Archbishop wrote that the week serves as a way for parishes and pastoral communities to focus on the message of Jesus through active listening.

Cobo suggested using the parable of the vineyard workers to guide reflection. He encouraged people to use materials prepared by the diocesan commission for the Word to help discern how to work together during the 2026/2027 pastoral year.

The Archbishop stated that the community should follow the goal of planning together to serve the mission of the Church more effectively. He noted that this new pastoral year follows the momentum from the Pope's visit to Madrid in June.
