Igreja/Media: Alfândega da Fé acolhe primeiro Encontro Nacional de Missionários Digitais

More than three thousand people gathered in Alfândega da Fé for the first National Meeting of Digital Missionaries, an event marking the formal creation of a national network for online evangelization. Held in the Diocese of Bragança-Miranda, the meeting brought together content producers, influencers, newsroom staff, and members of the Holy See to discuss digital communication within the Catholic Church in Portugal.

Father Manuel Ribeiro, president of the Fundação Cónego Manuel Joaquim Ochôa, stated that the meeting aimed to study the digital phenomenon and provide a contribution for the Church in Portugal to consider. He noted that the organizers intend to produce a document following the event to serve as a resource for further reflection on the field.

The meeting was organized by the Fundação Cónego Manuel Joaquim Ochôa, the Santuário do Imaculado Coração de Maria de Cerejais, the Secretariado Diocesano da Pastoral da Cultura e do Turismo de Bragança-Miranda, and the Alfândega da Fé City Council. Proceeds from the event are designated for renovation work at the Cerejais sanctuary.

Bishop Nuno Almeida of Bragança-Miranda previously noted in a message to the diocese that the digital continent is a major frontier for mission work where the Church must be present. He encouraged the faithful to engage with these spaces through authenticity and creativity to share the Gospel.
