D. Alexandre Palma alerts to loss of dialogue art and asks for provocative communication

Bishop Alexandre Palma, president of the Episcopal Commission for Social Communications, said society is losing the art of dialogue and suggested the Church use language that encourages reflection and questioning to share the Gospel. Speaking to Agência Ecclesia, the auxiliary bishop of Lisbon stated that communication should move beyond simply reporting events to include meditation and provocation that provides meaning to those who listen or read.

During the National Social Communication Days in Leiria, Palma identified the need to connect different institutions through networking. He described the role of the commission as a facilitator for communicators. The event, held under the theme "For a grammar of encounter," focuses on listening, conversing, and sharing. Palma noted that professionals must train in listening as a necessary step of communication to reinvent how they speak and hear others.
