Keith Carabott, a 23-year-old man, died on Saturday following severe brain damage sustained from three puncture wounds at age 18. His father, Omar, announced the death on social media, stating that his son is no longer in pain.

Carabott had lived at Dar Bjorn in Zebbug since February 2022, after doctors determined he was not healthy enough to return home. His injuries required 10 weeks in intensive care and 15 months in a neuro-medical ward. While he showed small signs of progress through physical and occupational therapy, such as opening his eyes and moving, he remained under constant care.

Before his injuries, Carabott worked in a call center and studied to become an accountant. He was also known for his love of football. Bjorn Formosa, the founder of Dar Bjorn, and the Malta Youth Football Community Hub both released statements honoring his memory and his strength.

The family has requested that instead of flowers for the funeral on Tuesday, people make donations to Dar Bjorn.
