Imut l-attur, awtur u kantant Joe Gatt

Maltese author, singer, and actor Joe Gatt has died at the age of 86.

Born in Mosta on June 13, 1940, Gatt was a well-known figure in Maltese theater and television. His career included writing numerous works, including plays and novellas. He appeared in several stage productions, such as In-Neputija tal-Kappillan and Min Qatel il-Kunjata, and acted in television series including Intriċċi, Simpatiċi, Il-Madonna taċ-Ċoqqa, and Għeruq, which he also wrote.

As a singer and songwriter, Gatt won the Malta Song Festival in 1963 with the song L-Għanja ta’ Mħabbitna. His other written songs include Mill-Jasar għall-Ħelsien, Ktejjeb Ċkejken, Kien Jum Bħal Dan, Mhux Jien Mamà!, and Se Jaqagħli l-Pipì!. Beyond the arts, he served as a councilor in Mosta. Gatt married in 1966 and was widowed in 2015, leaving behind children and nine grandchildren.
