Church supports mothers searching for missing children in Mexico

Catholic Relief Service Latin America is supporting groups of searching mothers, known as madres buscadoras, who are looking for more than 135,000 missing people in Mexico. These women have formed a social movement across the country to address the crisis.

Isabel Aguilera of Catholic Relief Service Latin America stated that the pandemic increased violence against women and worsened existing tensions. A large march involving these groups was scheduled for August 30 in Hermosillo, the capital of the state of Sonora.
