Intercollegiate Commissioning Mass: Blessing faithful servants to become missionary disciples

Auxiliary Bishop Gary Janak blessed and anointed student leaders of Catholic campus ministries during an intercollegiate commissioning Mass on September 11 at the University of the Incarnate Word Our Lady’s Chapel. The ceremony sent forth these men and women to lead and engage faith communities on various campuses throughout the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

During the Mass, Bishop Janak asked the student leaders if they were committed to identifying and coordinating the spiritual gifts of their community members and educating others to appreciate their own calls to service. The bishop also questioned professional campus ministry staff, chaplains, vice presidents, and advisors regarding their commitment to providing vision and direction for campus ministries. He asked these adults if they would help others improve their family lives and take responsibility for forming vibrant faith communities.
