Iraqi PM Ali al-Zaidi declares return of Christians a national priority

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has declared the return of Christian families to the country a national and government priority.

During a recent meeting with the new Chaldean Catholic Patriarch, Paul III Nona, al-Zaidi stated that Christians who were forced to leave Iraq due to the country's difficult circumstances should return. The Prime Minister described Christians as an essential part of Iraqi society and an active component that helps build the state and shape the nation's history and future.

Al-Zaidi added that Iraq's strength comes from the unity, integration, and social cohesion of its people, as well as its religious, national, and cultural diversity.
