JORNADA MUNDIAL DEL MIGRANTE Y EL REFUGIADO 2026. Salvador Diánez: “España siempre ha sido un país hospitalario que sabe acompañar”

The Church will observe the World Day of Migrants and Refugees on September 27, 2026, focusing on the vulnerability of migrant children and adolescents. The bishops selected a theme based on a Gospel citation to encourage people to look beyond statistics and political discourse to recognize the individual value of every young person.

The bishops reported that the difficulties faced by these children represent a structural reality crossing borders. They urged people to move beyond simple compassion and turn sensitivity into concrete action. They noted that the gestures and messages from Pope Leo XIV during his trip to Canarias helped shape the conscience and attitudes regarding this issue.

In the Archdiocese of Sevilla, the day will be marked by various initiatives. Bishop Salvador Diánez noted that Spain has a history of being a hospitable country that knows how to accompany those in need.
