Kabale Diocese equips lay leaders for mission, family life

The Diocese of Kabale held a one-day seminar at the Rushoroza Pastoral Centre on October 20 to train leaders of parish lay apostolate committees, movements, and associations. The gathering brought together representatives from the diocese's 43 parishes to strengthen leadership skills and deepen their understanding of the Church's mission.

Father Bruno Byomuhangi Sserunkuma, the director of the diocesan lay apostolate commission, opened the seminar by telling leaders that their personal conduct must reflect the Gospel they proclaim. He warned that lifestyles contradictory to Christian teachings sabotage the mission of Christ and urged leaders to demonstrate integrity, love, sacrifice, and service in their families, workplaces, and communities.

During the session, speakers encouraged leaders to practice peaceful family relationships, responsible parenting, and financial discipline. Father Byomuhangi noted that mission is a responsibility for all baptized Christians, not just priests and religious, and emphasized that every member of the faithful plays a role in evangelization and putting the Gospel into practice.
