Police arrested a 37-year-old man following an arson attack on a synagogue in Wuppertal. The suspect, an Afghan national known to the police, was taken into custody on Thursday.

A police spokesperson stated on Friday morning that investigators believe the perpetrator acted alone. The attack occurred shortly before Jom Kippur.

The fire was extinguished quickly and no injuries were reported. The state security office is conducting the investigation.
