KENYA: KCCB Dedicates October 3rd to National Prayer for Peaceful Cohesion

The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops has dedicated the upcoming National Prayer Day on October 3 to peace and national cohesion. Archbishop Maurice Muhatia Makumba, chairman of the conference and archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kisumu, said the day serves as a prayer for God's blessing on the country to help all communities, leaders, and faiths work together.

The event will take place on Saturday at the Marian Shrine in Subukia within the Nakuru Diocese. Archbishop Makumba noted that this year's prayer day is particularly important because it is the final annual prayer day before the 2027 General Election.

The conference also linked the theme to the Church's year-long commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron of peace.
