Father Adrian Mantykiewicz announced forgiveness during the first Mass held at the Benedictine abbey in Jaroslaw, Poland, following a knife attack that killed one priest. The attack occurred around 9:30 a.m. on September 24, when a 31-year-old Ukrainian man attacked five people inside the abbey.

The victim, 67-year-old Father Stanislaw Zbojniewicz, died from his wounds. Father Marek Pienkowski was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, while Father Mantykiewicz was treated and discharged the same day. Police arrested the suspect at the scene, and prosecutors charged him with murder, attempted murder, and causing serious injuries.

During the Mass on September 26, Father Mantykiewicz rejected blaming the attacker's nationality for the crime. He noted that the abbey had previously provided food, shelter, and care to Ukrainians fleeing the invasion of Ukraine.
