Kolbe Cathedral to hold 50th anniversary gala

Kolbe Cathedral will host its first gala on Thursday, October 1, at the Country Club of New Canaan to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary. Principal Camille Figluizzi said the event has been a long-term goal for the school.

The gala will honor Jo-Anne Jakab for her 43 years of service to the school. Jakab served as a teacher, director of athletics, and director of development before spending 26 years as president and principal of Kolbe Cathedral High School. During her leadership, the school added Wissel Hall, introduced engineering courses, and implemented a block schedule. The gala committee noted her role in advancing Catholic education and her leadership during a period of growth.

The event will also posthumously honor supporters Leo Van Munching, Jr., Jonathan O’Herron Sr., and Joaquin Paul Rodriguez.
