La Cátedra de la Caridad Santo Tomás de Villanueva UCV se une a la celebración del Día Internacional de la Paz

The Santo Tomás de Villanueva Chair of Charity at the Catholic University of Valencia joined the celebration of the International Day of Peace on September 21. José Luis Sánchez García, the director of the chair, stated that true peace requires more than the absence of conflict and must address hunger, poverty, and the lack of dignity and opportunity for vulnerable people.

Sánchez García noted that investing in peace is an investment in the person and that every individual can help build peace. He added that when people find God in Jesus Christ, they recognize the inherent dignity of every human being.

The chair's observance follows the message from Pope Leo XIV for the 59th World Day of Peace. The Pope's message, titled "Peace be with you all: toward an 'unarmed and disarming' peace," encourages people to reject violence and revenge in favor of justice, human dignity, and the common good. He invited people to be creative builders of daily peace within their hearts, families, communities, and cities.
