A parish priest reported that 99% of his parishioners now receive Holy Communion on the tongue after a shift in practice at his parish.

Javier Olivera Ravasi noted that when he took charge of the parish two and a half months ago, 90% of the faithful received Communion in the hand. Upon his arrival, he decided to use the marble communion rail, even if people could not kneel. He also removed extraordinary ministers from the altar to focus their assistance on prisoners and the sick.

Ravasi stated that the change in how parishioners receive Communion occurred without him preaching specifically on the topic. He observed that the percentage of people receiving Communion on the mouth rose to 90% after two and a half months, reaching 99% during a recent sermon. He attributed this change to explaining Church documents to the people with humility.
