La curiosa parroquia que tiene dos templos unidos por una pared

The San Roque parish in Carabanchel Bajo, Madrid, is the only parish in the diocese to feature two churches joined by a single wall. According to parish priest Juan Antonio Navarro, the original church was built to honor San Isidro and was later rebuilt. As the local population grew, Casimiro Morcillo ordered the construction of a larger building next to the original structure in 1942.

The two buildings are known as the Antigua and the newer, larger church. Both remain open for different parish activities. Since the end of the conflict, the parish has been served by only 3 priests. Navarro highlighted the long tenure of Antonio Varela, who led the community for 56 years and established programs such as a parish nursery and organized boat trips to the Holy Land.
