La devoción a San Pascual Bailón en la Diócesis de Segorbe

The Diocese of Segorbe-Castellón de la Plana has identified an unpublished letter from March 25, 1645, in its cathedral archives regarding the canonization of San Pascual Bailón. The document was sent by the Cabildo of the Seo to Pope Inocencio X to request the elevation of the friar to sainthood.

David Montolío Torán reports that the letter describes the devotion of the people and miraculous phenomena associated with the tomb of San Pascual Bailón in Villarreal. The Cabildo also noted favors granted through his intercession in the province and the Kingdom of Valencia. The saint had a historical relationship with the former diocese of Segorbe, where Bishop Ginés de Casanova acted as a rapporteur for the cause in the early 17th century.
