La Diócesis de Jaén celebra este domingo la Jornada Pro Templos

The Diocese of Jaén will hold its Pro Templos Day this Sunday, September 20, to collect funds for the maintenance and preservation of local churches and hermitages. Held every third Sunday of September, the event encourages the faithful to support the upkeep of existing religious buildings, which the diocese describes as both places of worship and important pieces of local cultural and historical heritage.

During the weekend of September 19 and 20, collections taken during Eucharistic celebrations will go toward these conservation efforts. The program, originally called Nuevos Templos, shifted its focus to caring for current structures to meet the present needs of the diocese.

In 2025, the Consejo de Asuntos Económicos of the Diocese of Jaén approved 83.214,30 euros for restoration and maintenance projects in several parishes. These funds were distributed among La Encarnación in Mancha Real, La Asunción in Beas de Segura, Nuestra Señora de la Paz in El Mármol, Santa Elena in Santa Elena, and San Francisco in Linares. Of that total, 30.701,24 euros came from the previous year's Pro Templos collection, while the remaining 52.513,06 euros were provided by the Fondo Diocesano.
