The Diocese of St. Gallen in Switzerland defended a drag show organized by the city's Catholic pastoral care for Friday, September 18. Ann-Katrin Gässlein, the head of culture and formation for the city's pastoral care, told the Catholic Herald that Bishop Beat Grögli was informed about the event prior to its celebration. While Gässlein confirmed the bishop was aware of the initiative as part of the diocese's practice of transparent communication, she did not confirm if he gave direct approval.

The event was intended to launch a new format called Deep Drag, which may lead to future meetings. Gässlein stated the show had been in preparation for several months and aimed to use drag as a medium to spark conversations regarding existential, religious, and spiritual questions about identity and the meaning of life. She clarified that the performance serves as a catalyst for dialogue rather than a matter of faith.
