La Iglesia en España prepara un protocolo de acompañamiento para quienes hayan cometido abusos

The Spanish Episcopal Conference is developing a guide to help dioceses, religious institutes, and apostolic life societies support priests, religious, and laypeople who have committed sexual abuse against minors or vulnerable adults. The document also covers individuals who present risk factors for committing such acts.

The Oficinas de Protección de Menores of the Spanish Episcopal Conference presented the draft during meetings held on September 18 and 19. One of the study groups under the Servicio de Coordinación y Asesoramiento of the Oficinas de Protección de Menores created the guide to provide directions based on responsibility, prevention, and care.

The guide is currently being edited and its full content has not been released. It will include an institutional pact with the perpetrator to define, supervise, and evaluate the specific measures taken in each case.
