La patrona de Europa, ¿fenomenóloga? Edith Stein, de Husserl a Santo Tomás

Edith Stein, the patron saint of Europe, transitioned from studying phenomenology under Edmund Husserl to discovering spiritual truth through the writings of Saint Teresa of Avila.

In August 1921, while staying in Bad Bergzabern, Stein spent a night reading the Life of Saint Teresa of Avila. After finishing the book at dawn, she declared that she had found the truth. This experience marked a shift from her philosophical pursuit of observing things without prejudice to a religious conviction that truth could be encountered and obeyed as a person.

Stein's intellectual journey began with a desire to find truth, leading her to abandon her mother's Jewish religious practices to study philosophy. Her work in phenomenology sought to contemplate reality without intervening systems.
