Cardinal José Cobo, the archbishop of Madrid, addressed seminarians during the opening mass of the academic year at the Conciliar Seminary. During his homily, he asked what God wants from the group for the upcoming course, suggesting that vocation is a communal response rather than just a personal one.

Cobo noted that training in communion and synodality helps future priests learn to walk together, which he described as a fundamental necessity for the Church. He explained that while God accompanies each individual, the vocation reaches fulfillment when lived in service to the ecclesial community. This communal experience in Church spaces helps individuals discern how to carry out their specific ministries.
