Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s Advice on Raising a Child

Lama Zopa Rinpoche shared advice regarding five essential attitudes and qualities to teach children to help them find happiness and bring peace to others.

The teacher provided these suggestions to a student expecting a child, noting that parents have a responsibility to guide a child's life through a style of Universal Education. According to Lama Zopa Rinpoche, teaching these qualities allows a child to cause less harm to others and eventually reach enlightenment.

The first of these five qualities is kindness. He advised that children should practice kindness toward everyone, including friends, strangers, and enemies, by generating kindness for all human beings and animals.
