Le origini di Troviggiano: convegno dopo la riapertura della chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta

The Diocese of Macerata held a conference to discuss the origins of Troviggiano following the reopening of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. The event coincided with the Feast of the Family and included Bishop Nazzareno Marconi, parish priest Gabriele Crucianelli, Mayor Michele Vittori, and the workers who helped restore the building after the 2016 earthquake.

Bishop Marconi noted that historical records suggest the church's existence dates back centuries. He cited a 1769 book from Osimo that references a 1248 notary act from the episcopal archives of Osimo. That document mentions an angel of the Church of Saint Mary in Troviggiano and a brother named Rinaldo, a convert from the area, who performed liturgical services at Cingoli.

The current structure incorporates the remains of a primitive church, which was originally oriented toward the east. Recent restorations have made these older elements more visible, specifically the upper part of the apse in the attic area. These original sections include stone arches and frescoes dating before 1500. Following the conference and Holy Mass, Bishop Marconi blessed several couples celebrating their anniversaries.
