Learning to welcome the interruption

Sister M. Emily Vincent Rebalsky, IHM, shared a personal story about the importance of knowing when to interrupt others.

Writing for the Catholic Star Herald, Rebalsky recalled a lesson from her second grade teacher who instructed students to only interrupt if there was a fire or if someone was bleeding to death. Rebalsky described an incident where a gerbil bit her finger, causing her to bleed. Because she followed her teacher's rule to wait unless the situation was life threatening, she waited while the teacher continued a conversation with another colleague. Rebalsky eventually began to cry from the pain and the wait, at which point the teacher noticed the injury and provided medical assistance.
