Pope Leo met with the governing and supervisory board of the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza Foundation on the morning of August 31 in Castel Gandolfó. The meeting served to review the work of the foundation, which manages the hospital established by Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.

The Pope created this supervisory board through a decree he signed on May 27. The discussions focused on ensuring the continuity and future of the hospital.
