Pope Leo XIV called on young Europeans to love life, start families, and welcome children while defending the dignity of every person from conception to natural death. Speaking in France, the pope urged people to protect life from the moment it begins in the womb.

The pope's remarks on September 28 coincided with International Safe Abortion Day. On that day, representatives from 11 European countries called for laws and policies that increase access to abortion and work toward decriminalizing the procedure, according to the JEDEN Z NAS Foundation. France was among the nations included in that declaration.
