Pope Leo XIV presided over the Assembly of the Church of Rome at the Basilica of St. John Lateran on Friday, September 18, to mark the beginning of the pastoral year. During his address to the diocesan assembly, the Pope announced that a diocesan inquiry has been approved to begin the canonization process for Father Luigi Di Liegro.

Father Di Liegro served as the founder and director of the Caritas for the diocese of Rome.
