Antoine-Marie Izoard, the editor in chief of Famille Chrétienne, argues that a proposal by lawmaker Clémence Guetté represents an ideological attack on the foundations of the family.

Guetté, a deputy for LFI, has proposed creating a civil union for friends, referred to as a Pacs amical, as part of what she calls a Republic of Friends. Izoard suggests that while praising friendship is legitimate, this specific proposal seeks to shift social priority from the family to friendships.
