Pope Leo XIV called on participants to build a culture of peace, justice, and reconciliation based on the Gospel during the opening of an international conference in Rome. The event, titled "Unarmed and Disarming Peace," runs from September 9 to September 11.

Cardinal Charles Maung Bo of Myanmar delivered a keynote address at the conference.
