Life and legacy of Msgr. Walsh commemorated during funeral Mass

Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., celebrated the funeral Mass for Msgr. Michael J. Walsh on Sept. 14 at St. James Church in Pennington. During the Mass of Christian Burial, Bishop O’Connell described the priest's life of more than 53 years as one that kept the faith.

Msgr. Walsh served as the pastor of St. James Church from 2012 until his retirement in 2021. The funeral service included approximately 60 priests who concelebrated the Mass, along with deacons and members of the local community. Many of Msgr. Walsh's family members traveled from Ireland to attend the service.

The diocesan YouTube channel provided a livestream of the funeral for those unable to attend in person, reaching nearly 5,000 views within days of the event.
