Living Water: Transforming Lives in Gadi

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth restored a 90,000-liter storage tank and installed new piping to bring water to Gadi, a village in the Surkhet District of Nepal. The project, funded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (NLBI), connected the village to a water source located 5 kilometers away in the hills.

The community in Gadi ward no. 14 consists of 400 households that previously faced severe water shortages. Sister Rosita Kavilpurayidathil noted that the lack of drinking water and irrigation forced many families to migrate to the valley. While the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth previously operated a livelihood and resilience program in the area, Sister Rosita said women's progress remained limited by the water crisis.

The restoration of the tank and the new pipe system allowed water to flow into the village in July 2026. This change enables women to access water in their homes rather than waiting in line to collect it from a well at the bottom of a hill.
