Bishops from northeast Italy signed a joint statement in Bibione denying that a right to die can exist. The bishops of the Triveneto Episcopal Conference reached this unanimous decision following a two-day conference held on September 10 and 11.

The bishops issued the declaration in response to a recent legislative measure passed by the Veneto Region regarding end-of-life issues. In the document, the bishops rejected the idea that suppressing life can be considered a conquest of civilization.
