Marian Devotion to Our Lady of Kibeho Marks October in Lira Diocese.

Catholic communities in Lira Diocese are hosting a pilgrimage of the image of Our Lady of Kibeho throughout October 2026. The visitation aims to allow the faithful to gather in prayer and reflect on Marian devotion.

The image arrived in the diocese at the beginning of the month and was received on 1 October 2026 at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral in Lira. Following its arrival, the image traveled to St Peter Anai Catholic Parish, Boroboro St Leo the Great Parish, and St Peter Claver Ober Parish.

The visitation program includes all 31 parishes and four sub-parishes within the diocese. Mary Bashaasha, the coordinator of the Visionaries in Uganda, is coordinating the movement of the image. The pilgrimage draws attention to the reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kibeho, Rwanda, which occurred between 1981 and 1989.
