Luis Fernando Calvo to lecture on business vocation
Luis Fernando Calvo will deliver a lecture titled "Business Organization in the Church’s Social Thought" on October 1. The presentation is the first event organized by the Costa Rican Association of Christian Businessmen.
Calvo, the director of the Tomás Moro Institute, told ACI Prensa that the lecture intends to help business leaders see their work as a way to serve others and achieve holiness. He stated that while profit is necessary, the role of a businessperson involves creating jobs, goods, and services that benefit society and support human dignity.
According to Calvo, Catholic social doctrine provides specific criteria for Christian businesspeople to act with honesty and responsibility toward their employees and the common good. He described a business as a community of people serving society rather than just a tool for making money.
