Mass Oct. 24 Launches Torches of Guadalupe Series

A Mass on Oct. 24 at St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral in Trenton will begin the 11th annual Torches of Our Lady of Guadalupe series. The event, themed Mother of All, features the lighting of torches during the 5 p.m. Mass to honor Mary as the bearer of Christ's light. Attendees will receive a special blessing before torch bearers begin a pilgrimage to various parishes across the Diocese throughout October and November.

The traveling tradition includes several scheduled stops at local parishes. St. Paul Parish in Princeton will light the Tilma Torch on Nov. 1 at 1 p.m., and St. Joseph Parish in Trenton will light the Apparition Torch on Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation Parish in Brick is also scheduled to light the Empress Torch at 11 a.m.

The series concludes on Dec. 4 at St. Joseph Parish in Toms River. Sponsored by the Diocesan Department of Evangelization and Family Life, the closing event begins at 5:50 p.m. and will be available both live and online before the 7 p.m. Mass.
