Master of the Order appoints 5 friars to Spem Miram Internationalis board

Master of the Order Gerard Francisco Timoner III has appointed five friars to the board of Spem Miram Internationalis for a three-year term from 2026 to 2029. The new members are Brother Juan Ubaldo López Salamanca, Brother Júlio Gonçalves Candeeiro, Brother Emmanuel Pisani, Brother Nicolas Tixier, and Brother Pablo Condrac. Brother Juan Ubaldo will continue as the president of the board.

Spem Miram Internationalis manages solidarity funds for the Order of Preachers to support mission projects, scholarships for further studies, and the formation of friars, particularly in economically weaker provinces. The five-member board reviews requests for financial assistance and recommends grants to the Master of the Order for final approval. Members also review application procedures and grant criteria.

These appointments follow the approval of updated statutes on July 17, 2026. The changes reflect a 2025 decision from the General Chapter of Krakow to create a single statute for solidarity within the Order. To receive assistance, applicants must submit requests endorsed by their relevant prior provincial. The board typically meets in April and October to consider these requests.
