The Church calendar commemorates Saint Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus on August 31.

Vatican News reports that these men took the body of Jesus from the cross, wrapped it in burial cloth, and placed it in a tomb. Joseph of Arimathea is described as a noble centurion and a disciple of the Lord who awaited the coming of the Kingdom of God. Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews, had visited Jesus at night to ask about his mission and defended his case before the chief priests and those who wanted to arrest him.
