Bishop Ramón Castro Castro calls for justice for murdered priest

Bishop Ramón Castro Castro is calling on the Mexican government to provide justice following the murder of Father Román. The priest served as the pastor of the Santa Cruz community in Huejutla de Reyes, located in northern Hidalgo.

Bishop Castro Castro, who serves as the bishop of Cuernavaca and president of the Mexican Episcopal Conference, expressed grief and dismay over the killing. He urged the state to strengthen its ability to prevent violence, conduct investigations, and pursue criminal action. He also requested that the government guarantee justice and assistance to victims while working to rebuild the social fabric.

The bishop also urged people not to become accustomed to violence. This follows a period in recent years where many priests and laypeople have been killed in Mexico.
