Mezzo secolo di Donatello al Museo dell’Opera del Duomo

The Museo dell’Opera del Duomo in Prato and Prato Cultura have scheduled a series of special events to celebrate 50 years since the Donatello and Michelozzo pulpit was moved to the museum. The anniversary, which marked the preservation of the work within the museum setting on September 8, 2026, will be commemorated with activities running until January 2, 2027.

The celebrations begin Saturday, September 19, at 15:00 with a guided tour titled Donatello In & Out: il pulpito da vicino e da lontano. This tour starts outside the Santo Stefano Cathedral to examine a 1972 copy of the pulpit by Andrea Fedeli before moving inside the museum to view the original work. The tour costs 15 euro per person and includes museum admission. Identical guided tours are scheduled for Sunday, October 4, and Saturday, January 2.

A separate activity for families, titled Donatello col binocolo, is planned for Sunday, November 8, at 15:30.
