The Society of Saint Paul held a Mass and a meeting at the shrine of Mary Queen of the Apostles in Rome to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Father Gabriele Amorth. Amorth, a well-known exorcist who died in Rome on September 16, 2016, at age 91, was a priest of the Pauline Family.

During the commemoration, Giovanni Amorth shared personal memories and the spiritual legacy of his uncle with Famiglia Cristiana. He described the priest as a joyful man with a deep devotion to Mary who believed that the sacraments provided the fundamental protection for Christians.

Giovanni Amorth recalled how his uncle's work as an exorcist, a role he began in 1986, prompted questions about possession and salvation. He noted that his uncle taught him that while a demon could possess a person's body, it could never possess their soul. According to Giovanni, Father Amorth explained that those affected by possession could remain in a state of grace through confession, prayer, works of charity, and the sacraments.
