Mons. Delpini fa i conti con il Sinodo, il card. Repole continua a camminare

Archbishop Mario Enrico Delpini of Milan expressed criticism regarding the Synod process during the start of the new pastoral year. In a report by Eusebio Episcopio for the blog Lo Spiffero, Delpini noted that the path initiated by Pope Francis has been marked by exhaustion and significant difficulties.

Delpini cited the creation of numerous lengthy documents that must be managed simultaneously and repetitive instructions that discourage practical work as primary issues. He also mentioned that skepticism among some members of the clergy has contributed to a climate of fatigue.

The Archbishop previously submitted his resignation to the Pope. The Pope accepted the resignation nunc pro tunc, extending Delpini's term for one additional year. Delpini opened the pastoral year in Milan with a pontifical Mass at the Cathedral on September 8, the feast of the Nativity of Mary. While the year's program focuses on synodality, Delpini's recent comments offer a critical assessment of the current synodal efforts.
