Mons. Sanz ordains first permanent deacon in Astorga

Bishop Jesús Sanz of Oviedo ordained Miguel Sierra Manteca as the first permanent deacon for the Diocese of Astorga. The ceremony took place on September 27 at the Astorga Cathedral.

During the ordination, Bishop Sanz addressed Sierra Manteca’s wife, Sofía, and their son, David. The bishop described the deacon's transition as a vocation emerging from his existing vocation to family life. He noted that this ministry follows the apostolic tradition of serving the Christian community.
