Monterrey pone en marcha una capilla móvil para llevar el Santísimo a zonas sin parroquia

The Archdiocese of Monterrey will launch a mobile chapel to bring Eucharistic adoration, confessions, and pastoral care to neighborhoods without nearby churches. The vehicle is expected to begin operating in late September as part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Monterrey.

Archdiocese communications officer Father Ignacio Pulido Mendiola said the van will visit peripheral neighborhoods and areas affected by drug-related violence. The mobile unit can also be set up in high-traffic locations such as parks and recreational centers. The project was inspired by an anonymous lay couple motivated by their devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Archbishop Rogelio Cabrera López assigned Father Adrián Villagrán, the parish priest of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, to manage the project. Father Villagrán helped adapt the vehicle, which now contains an altar, two kneelers, and two seats. The design includes a way to protect the monstrance and provides space for a priest to hear confessions.
