Monthly Luncheons in Waterbury Keep Older Adults Connected to One Another

Sisters Lucille and Marie Therrien host monthly luncheons to help older parishioners at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Waterbury stay connected. The monthly gathering is open to parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish and now attracts an average of 100 people each time.

The sisters, who live in Wolcott, sponsor the meals and manage the shopping, food preparation, and catering coordination. Volunteers assist by setting up the church hall with tables and utensils. Guests and volunteers typically bring desserts to share. During a recent Wednesday meal, attendees ate ziti, meatballs, salad, and bread, followed by cookies and ice cream. Regular volunteer Donna Marburger said she assists wherever Marie needs help to serve the parish community.
